The Worldbuilder's Handbook

Create your own world — lands, cultures, and conflicts

From day one, you’ll join Garet and his brilliant team of Worldbuilders, including Flint the tortoise, Head of Land Design, and the rest of the crew, who each bring their own skills and interests. You’ll build a whole world, alive with detail and brimming with possibility, and Garet takes this very seriously. You’ll lead a team, making decisions that’ll shape everything. The Art of Persuasion

Master persuasive writing through letters, speeches, and course creation

You’re stepping into Azoria with a mission: not to explore or to fight dragons (there aren’t any), but to persuade. From the very start, you’re thrown into debates and opportunities where words hold the power to change the world. Whether it’s convincing the Trustees to back your theme-park dreams, calming down a furious crowd, or making a runaway pie someone else’s problem, this is a course where storytelling and persuasion collide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely! While our KS3 courses are designed with 11–14 year olds in mind, older teens are very welcome to join—especially if they enjoy exploring creative storytelling, developing their writing skills, and tackling imaginative challenges. The age range is a guideline based on typical school years, but many 15- and 16-year-olds find these courses both engaging and valuable. If the course sparks your child’s interest, they’re the right age for it!

Definitely. Our KS3 courses are designed to be creative, flexible, and low-pressure — ideal for anyone who’s unsure or still building confidence. You’ll be encouraged to explore different ideas and writing styles without the fear of getting things “wrong.” And if you choose the feedback option, Christina — a published children’s author with a PhD in creative writing — will offer thoughtful, encouraging guidance to help you develop as a writer.

Yes! These courses are a great fit for anyone who’s just starting out or wants to build confidence. The activities are designed to develop skills gradually, with a focus on creativity, not perfection. If your child has any additional learning needs, you’re very welcome to let us know when purchasing — it’s entirely optional, but it can help us tailor feedback in a way that’s most supportive for them.

You can pick between a downloadable pack or an interactive online version. Both have the same creative content — it just depends on whether you prefer working on paper or digitally. The interactive version also lets you upload your work and receive feedback easily.

Yes! If you choose the interactive course, you’ll receive personalised weekly feedback written by Christina, a children’s author with a PhD in creative writing. For the downloadable pack, you can request feedback for a small extra fee. The feedback is always constructive, encouraging, and designed to help you develop as a writer.

Most students spend about 45–60 minutes each week on the core activities. However, it depends on how much time and thought you choose to put into each task — and some weeks include optional extension activities, which can take a little longer if you’d like to explore further.

Just a pen, paper, and your imagination! For the printable version, you’ll need a printer or a way to type your answers digitally. The interactive version lets you upload handwritten work or type directly into online documents like Google Docs.

No. These courses are designed to build writing skills in a creative, flexible way. There are no grades or tests — just space to explore ideas, experiment with language, and enjoy writing outside a school setting. You’ll also be developing strong creative writing skills — a valuable craft in its own right, and a helpful advantage when it comes to GCSEs too.

Choose the course you want, click “Purchase Now,” and follow the easy checkout steps. After purchasing, we’ll email your login details (for interactive) or downloadable pack within 24 hours so you can start straight away.

Yes! We offer a free Week 1 sample of our KS3 course The Worldbuilder’s Handbook so you can get a feel for the course’s (and Alight’s) style and see if it’s a good fit. We plan to offer free Week 1 samples for all our course ranges, so everyone can try before they commit.
