The Great Story Hunt

Join Cassie the fox and her friends on a journey through magical gardens and forests, solving mysteries and helping characters in unexpected situations. In this story-slash-writing course, what happens next in the narrative depends on your child’s writing. They will see straight away that their words shape the story. Frequently Asked Questions

No — children don’t need to write independently to take part. If your child finds writing tricky or isn’t yet confident, we recommend supporting them by reading instructions aloud or writing down their ideas for them. While the course does involve reading and writing, it’s not text-heavy, and the real focus is on imagination, creativity, and understanding the concept of storytelling — all of which can be explored in different ways, with or without independent writing.

You can choose between a downloadable printable pack or an interactive online version. Both formats include the same content — it’s just a matter of what works best for your family.

Each week includes a handful of short, engaging activities that can be done across several days or all in one go — however suits your child best. On average, families spend around 45–60 minutes per week.

You can choose between a printable pack and an interactive online version. Both contain the same creative content — it’s just a matter of what works best for your child. The interactive version includes built-in guidance and places to upload work for feedback.

Yes! If you choose the interactive online version of the course, weekly personalised feedback from Cassie is included in the price. If you choose the downloadable pack, feedback isn’t included by default — but you can add it to your purchase for a small extra fee. In both cases, feedback is written with help from Christina, a children’s author and creative writing expert (PhD), and is designed to gently encourage and celebrate your child’s progress.

If you've chosen the downloadable version, you'll need a printer or an online tool to type on the documents — or simply use pen and paper while reading from a screen. For the interactive version, children can either write on paper and upload photos of their work, or use tools like Google Docs or Word to type and submit. Drawing activities can be done by hand or using a digital tool — whatever works best for your family.

No! These courses are designed to feel fun, different, and actually enjoyable. The only similarity to school is that your child will be learning — but they’ll be doing it through creativity, play, and storytelling. There are no tests, no grades, and definitely no “please redo this.” Even the optional feedback is fun and encouraging — more like a friendly pen pal than a teacher with a red pen.

Just choose a course from the list above, click “Purchase Now,” and follow the simple checkout instructions. Once you’ve completed your purchase, we’ll be in touch within 24 hours with either your login details (for the interactive version) or your downloadable course pack. It’s easy to get started — and the storytelling begins right away!

Yes — these courses are absolutely open to anyone! The age range is simply a guide, based on how the content aligns with the Key Stage 1 curriculum. That can be really helpful when supporting a child in that age group — but it doesn’t mean others can’t enjoy it too. Older children might still find the activities fun, creative, and confidence-boosting, while younger ones can often join in with a little extra support. If it looks like something your child would enjoy, we’d love to have them along!
