The Mystery of the Missing… Meerkat?

You’re a proud zoo keeper, caring for all kinds of creatures, common or completely unusual. One day, an urgent letter arrives — one of your creatures has wandered off and is hiding in another keeper’s zoo! Luckily, Cassie is on hand with plenty of guidance, helping you track down your mischievous friend and bring them safely home. 

Writing doesn’t have to feel like hard work. In fact, it shouldn’t. It should be playful and fun. The Mystery of the Missing…Meerkat? is a warm, funny first step into creative writing for young children. They’ll invent strange creatures, help their creatures feel brave, and discover that writing is something they control with their own words, which can be beautiful, wild, or anything in between.

In this course, learners will:

• Invent and welcome their creature to their zoo.
• Solve the mystery of the missing creature with creative letters, rescue plans, and illustrated stories.
• Explore sequencing, description, and empathy, when they need to help their missing animal feel safe.
• Share their creations with family or friends — and send their finished workbook to Cassie and get real written feedback.

As well as being a great introduction to creative writing, it can be a family experience. Children can work on it with parents, carers, friends, or independently, and the physical workbooks make it easy to keep as a memory. We will count this course a success if it leaves children proud of their ideas and excited to write again.
